In the spring of 2011 we delivered to Michel, a new French client, a Scorpion 9.75m RIB with twin 350hp Verado engines.
Michel, an engineer, faithful to the Italian brands, was looking for a manufacturer to listen to his requirements. An airplane pilot in his spare time, passionate about racing and a keen biker, he discovered that as well as the air and the racing track, the sea could give him his dose of adrenaline.
Almost overnight Michel, accompanied by his faithful teammate and co-pilot Mark, began competing in high speed off-shore racing and for two seasons finished third in his category, during the Mediterranean Championships in France.
Michel soon abandoned the competitions after becoming a grandfather, however still wanted his leisure RIB to be at the height of performance, to fulfill his prevailing passion for speed in rough seas and his search for the next adrenaline rush. He looked towards the European market in pursuit of a RIB with a deep V hull that could withstand all the challenging sea conditions that he had been previously used to. During his visit to Southampton Boat Show in 2010, Michel discovered the deep “V” stepped hull, designed and manufactured by Scorpion RIBs.
Michel had stumbled across the very design that he had been looking for. Accompanied by the sales and design team at Scorpion, he began the process to conceive a specification that complemented his requirements. After much hard work and dedication from all parties, Michel’s Scorpion was complete and his first impression was “Bravo and bravo again.”
Michel says, “I have just done a review of 20 hours but have not yet pushed the boat to its limits however I will certainly provide you with lots of adventure stories over the forthcoming summer season. The passage in rough seas is remarkable, we cruise at high speeds safely, but most importantly in comfort”. He goes on to state “I started my passion with British cars, the Triumph TR4A-IRS and the Austin Healey 3000 MKIII, so it is with great pleasure that I return to England, to find a boat of exception – The Scorpion RIB”.
